Modern Shelter | Architecture is a
Sag Harbor based practice founded in 2014 by married partners Heidi and Grayson Jordan, who have over 20 years' experience designing custom residences.
Working closely with clients, we marry each building to its SITE by capturing natural light, framing significant views, and promoting seamless transitions between interiors and outdoor spaces.
We believe COLLABORATION is essential to realizing a successful project. This starts with open communication between architect and client, and extends to contractors, consultants, and engineers.

We believe the principles of SUSTAINABILITY and energy efficiency have existed in vernacular building forms for centuries. We aim to continue that tradition with the advantage of new products and technologies.
We have experience in commercial, institutional and ecclesiastical architecture, but our specialty is the design of the HOME. Our goal is the creation of houses that celebrate their locations and are at once inspiring, relaxing, and suited to the lifestyles of our clients.

Great ARCHITECTURE transcends stylistic labels. Well-versed in modern and traditional building typologies, we believe a successful building creates a variety of experiences and enhances the life of its occupant. A GREAT building adds another, less tangible dimension: it captures the imagination.
We are a modern architecture firm with DIVERSE avenues of exploration. Among other things, we are interested in the intersection of traditional New England building forms with modern details and space planning. We employ natural materials in an understated aesthetic guided by one principle: Simplify.
